Esports Club Consitution
PREAMBLE
We, the Esports club, will create inclusive gaming communities centered around
members’ love for Esports and their related games. The Esports Club will host and develop
community leaders in their respective interests as it pertains to esports and provide casual and
competitive environments where players can grow and excel through philanthropy, passion for
gaming, creating connections inside and outside the Grand Valley community, and providing
leadership opportunities.
ARTICLE 1: NAME
The name of this club will be the Esports Club.
ARTICLE 2: PURPOSE
The purpose of the club is to create a community centered around video games and esports
culture.
ARTICLE 3: AFFILIATIONS
The club is affiliated with TESPA, the North American collegiate esports organization.
ARTICLE 4: MEMBERSHIP
Section One: General Assembly Membership
The membership of Esports Club shall consist of any interested student currently enrolled
at GVSU. It is the policy of GVSU and Esports Club that no person on the basis of age,
color, disability, familial status, height, marital status, national origin, political affiliation,
race, religion, sex/gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran
status, or weight shall be discriminated against.
Section Two: Membership Expectations:
It is expected that members will:
Be active participants in the Esports Club and gaming communities
Be respectful of all other members
Communicate effectively about their ability to make club functions or else risk not
being granted permission to miss events
Follow the Community Guidelines specified in the Community Guidelines
document
Section Three: Competitive Teams
Playing on competitive teams is a privilege in the club. Players will be expected to:
Attend all scrimmages, practices, and matches
48 Hour notice and approval must be given to team captains and game
leaders if a player intends to miss a practice
Failure to comply can result in a suspended status or expulsion
from a team
Evidence of emergencies can be provided to the respective game leader

Esports Club Consitution

PREAMBLE

We, the Esports club, will create inclusive gaming communities centered around

members’ love for Esports and their related games. The Esports Club will host and develop

community leaders in their respective interests as it pertains to esports and provide casual and

gaming, creating connections inside and outside the Grand Valley community, and providing

ARTICLE 1: NAME

ARTICLE 5: EXECUTIVE BOARD

Section One: Description The Executive Board shall consist of the following composition: ● President ● Internal Vice President ● External Vice President ● Secretary ● Treasurer

Section Two: Requirements

  1. Each Executive Board member must be registered for at least six credit hours per semester at GVSU
  2. Each Executive Board member must carry a 2.5 cumulative GPA and be in good academic standing with the University
  3. Meet at least every two weeks a. Excludes university breaks
  4. Officers shall serve a term of one full academic year
  5. Attend at least 50% of all general assembly meetings
  6. Attend at least 75% of eboard meetings

ARTICLE 6: OFFICER DUTIES

  1. President: a. Preside over all meetings b. Carry out the provisions of the constitution c. Call special meetings with a 48-hour notification d. Oversee all committee activities e. Administrate the discord server f. Facilitate, update, and help complete the Club Manifesto g. Serve as the official spokesperson for the club h. Handle Tespa responsibilities i. Reapply for chapter status each year ii. Attend monthly meetings
  2. Internal VP: a. Perform any duties delegated by the president. b. Assume the duties of the president in his/her absence c. Administrate the Discord Server d. Coordinate all chapter social events on-campus e. Maintain good relations with organizations on campus f. Weekly check-in w/ game leads i. Report back to President g. Risk Reduction
  1. Fundraising Chair: a. Perform any duties delegated by the president. b. Work with Secretary to plan out fundraising dates c. Work with the Treasurer to get money for supplies and to collect money d. Host one fundraiser per month i. One fundraiser to be held by the Eboard/Chair positions ii. Each other fundraiser will be done by the specific game groups iii. One fundraiser for charity
  2. Development Team Leader Chair: a. Perform any duties delegated by the president. b. Lead development for: i. Discord bot ii. Website c. Host and manage the “Dev Team” d. Hold “Dev Team” meetings e. Provide club data upon eboard request f. Administrate the discord server g. Handle club contact information h. Manage club databases
  3. Tespa Chair: a. This position exists for the remainder of the affiliation with Tespa b. The position shall: i. Perform any duties delegated by the president. ii. Manage Tespa Skill Tree Progression iii. Update Tespa Information and Officers when applicable iv. Coordinate with the Secretary about meetings that will incorporate Tespa elements v. Work with Game Leaders and Team Captains to register players with the Tespa Chapter
  4. Game Leaders a. This position shall exist for each game that has reached ten members and has had a competitive team and as long as there are at least a number of people who play the game to field a competitive team. b. The position shall: i. Perform any duties delegated by the president. ii. Encourage sportsmanship and a positive attitude for all players at all times iii. Facilitate competitive events at all levels of competition
  5. Run at least one internal scrim day each week
  6. Facilitate at least one competitive team practice each week.
  7. Inform members of tournaments
  8. Ensure that members are properly registered for events
  9. Facilitate at least one event with a high school team each month iv. Check in with the VP weekly v. Communicate with the Social Chair about team scores and highlights

vi. Host competitive team tryouts

ARTICLE 7: COMMITTEES

Committees shall be formed to carry out internal and external events with the approval of the president. Committees will be overseen by the chair or that committee within the respective area that the committee falls under.

ARTICLE 8: ADVISOR

Section 1: Role of the Advisor

The role of the faculty advisor is to:

A. Serve as the official staff representative of the university.

B. Assist each officer of the club in understanding their duties.

C. Give particular attention to the financial activities of the group in order to prevent the incurring of organizational debts for succeeding members to pay.

D. Ensure that appropriate university policies are upheld.

E. To sign all club/organization requisitions for the club/organizations, and to make sure that

  1. Their student treasurer or president or vice president signs it AND

  2. That the expenditure is correct within all existing policies.

Section 2: Appointing an advisor

Should a majority of the eboard wish to change the advisor, a vote between candidates will take place and the advisor with the most votes will be accepted.

ARTICLE 9: MEETINGS

Section 1: Frequency

  1. Meetings will be held no more infrequently than once per month.

Section 2: Tespa

  1. One meeting per Tespa Campaign period will be designated for presenting those items. a. This will be noted on the meeting schedule, created by the Secretary.

ARTICLE 10: AMENDMENTS Section 1: Approval

  1. Proposed amendments should be presented first to the President by the member.
  2. Proposed amendments should be presented in the next meeting agenda and again at the next club meeting
  3. Proposed amendments shall be voted upon at a designated club meeting

ARTICLE 11: ELECTIONS AND IMPEACHMENT Section 1: Elections
