English is considered to be the most widely used or universal language in today's
world. Interacting and communicating to the other nationalities would be really feasible if
we use the English language as our medium. Apart from that, most social media are
now adapting English as their language hence being efficient in the English language
would absolutely give us many opportunities to express ourselves and it would also be a
great platform to develop our adaptability in the present times especially in participating
on the fast-paced of globalization. However, due to the COVID-19 the usual normal
lives of the people all around the world changed and made a huge impact in our daily
lives and one of it is the change in our educational system.
This pandemic posed a huge challenge for educational institutions, particularly
when the government declared that it would not open face-to-face classes for the
Academic Year 2020-2021 until the Covid-19 vaccine has been yet discovered.
However, during this time is when I have also learned the application and the
essentiality of the English language. Similar to what I have stated in previous
sentences, English is considered to be the most widely used or universal language in

made me realized that the English language is the one that would help me in keeping
up the news and be updated in the current happenings around the world.
Regala (2017), stated in his article “English As A Second Language in The
Philippine Education System” that in the Philippines, English is widely revered not only
because it is practical and realistic, but also most importantly, because the better one's
ability to grasp and use it the better one's chances of having a career. English has long
been an official language of the Philippines. The language of English is well anchored in
formal education in the Philippines. This article of him only proves the significance of the
English language especially in this “new normal” because in order to keep up and
communicate in the outside world, we have to first eradicate the language barrier that
keeps people from all around the world to properly communicate with one another and
using the English language is the most practical and realistic way to overcome that
obstacle. In this difficult time, supporting and helping one another is absolutely
important; reaching out for help such as calling out for donations, seeking for comforts

such as supporting one another overcome this difficult situation would be really feasible if each and everyone of us well understand each other and with the use of the English language which is considered to be the most widely used or universal language in today's world, we can definitely understand, support and help one another internationally or globally.
