Jennifer L. Amber H. Jennifer H. Annie B. IT 371 March 25, 2002 Dr. Marcus Childress Project #5: Digital Video Critique We found it rather easy to create an idea to make a movie. We were able to work collaboratively in a group to develop an idea, shoot the footage and edit our movie. Actually shooting our footage was not hard; it was the actually editing. Importing our footage onto the computer was surprisingly fast. One of the first things we noticed is that it was very hard to hear our voices. We accidentally placed a title in the wrong clip; we found it very difficult to remove the title (we were just making it harder than it really was). We were unable to split in places that had been previous cut and this was rather frustrating. We wanted to insert a few transitions between clips but if the clips were too short it would not allow us to insert the transitions. We thought inserting credits would be cool but we had not idea how time consuming it would be. Something else that was time consuming, which we were forewarned of previously, was the amount of time it takes to export the movie once it is completed. We did find that the effects were easy to add and the transitions were fun to experiment with. This could be a useful tool in the classroom to add to our bag of “tricks” because students learn best using hands-on-methods. A child becomes part of the process and they are able to get involved and use problem-solving skills, develop communications skills and possibly even develop friendships. This is a project that a student would remember down the road and they will learn more about the subject at hand.
