Childhood disorders are a common problem in today’s society. One in five children and adults have a psychological disorder that produces at least one impairment (Feldman, 2019). A lot of people in their teen years suffer from this, examples are bipolar disorder and childhood depressive disorder. Parents and teachers often overlook the child’s psychological disorder because the child’s symptoms are not consistent with how adults would express the disorder. Many psychological disorders can be treated through drug therapies. Millions of children are classified as having a specific learning disorder known as a type of special need that children can have, children with special needs are different from typical children in terms of learning abilities and physical attributes (Feldman, 2019). Children with special needs need more time with parents and teachers for their challenges. Autism spectrum disorder is a psychological disorder that produces significant language and emotional difficulties (Feldman, 2019). Children with autism find it difficult to relate to others being they find it difficult to understand what others are thinking. Children with this disorder also experience specific learning disabilities such as listening, speaking and reading. Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is marked by attentiveness, impulsiveness, a low tolerance for frustration, and a great deal of inappropriate activity (Feldman 2019). Children with ADHD distinguish a high level of activity and have difficulty finishing tasks or paying attention. A learning game that can be very inclusive for a child with ADHD would be Red Light-Green Light, this game promotes attention and concentration skills while building up motor skills. A mother is running late to her college class and still has to drop her preschooler off at daycare.
