FORCE
Force is the influence that changes or tends to change the state of rest or uniform
motion of a body in a straight line. let force F acts on a body of mass m and
produces an acceleration of a, then
F = m x a
Newtons second law of motion
The force acting on a body is equal to product of mass of the body and
acceleration produced by the force on the body. This is newtons second law of
motion.
SI unit of force is newton[N]
1 newton = force acting on a body of mass 1kg producing an acceleration of 1m/s2
in its direction.
Solved question and answer
1. 1.12kg ball rolls forward with a net acceleration of 1.11m/s2. what is the net
force on the ball.?
F = ma
F = 1.12kg x 1.11m/s2
F = 1.24N
2. A railway wagon of mass 1000kg is pulled with a force of 10000N.what is
the acceleration.?
F = ma
a = F/m
m = 1000 kg
F = 10000 N
a = F/m
a = 10000/1000
a = 10m/s2
acceleration=10m/s2

  1. 1.12kg ball rolls forward with a net acceleration of 1.11m/s^2. what is the net force on the ball.? F = ma F = 1.12kg x 1.11m/s^2 F = 1.24N

pressure

The total force acting on a liquid surface is called thrust. the pressure[p] is defined as the force[F] per unit area[A] and its unit is Nm-^2 or pascal. Atmospheric pressure = 1.01x10^5 pa Pascals law Whenever external pressure is applied to any part of a liquid this pressure gets distributed all directions equally. Eg: hydraulic lift P = F/A P=PRESSURE F=FORCE A=AREA

  1. A hydraulic automobile lift is designed to lift cars with a maximum mass of 3000 kg. the area of cross section of the piston carrying the load is 425cm^2. what maximum pressure would the smaller piston have to bear.? P = F/A F = ma F = 3000 x 9. F = 29400 N P = F/A P = 29400N/425x10-^4 P = 6.92x10^5 pa Gravitational force The force that pulls a body down words with an acceleration is called gravitational force. the above acceleration is called acceleration due to gravity[g] and is equal to 9.81 ms-^2. It is same for bodies of different masses and obey the relationship F = ma.
