  1. A segment of the film is dedicated to showing you the “Grunts Vocabulary Primer (lesson)”. Why is this vocabulary important to understanding the soldier’s role in Vietnam, the jobs they did and the changes in the soldiers themselves?
  2. How is music important to this film? Explain how music would have been important to the soldiers and the history of the Vietnam War itself.
  3. Describe the content of the letter that had the greatest emotional effect on you. What was it about this letter that made you react/respond the way you did (emotionally, physically, psychologically)?
  4. How did Vietnam seem to impact the soldiers & nurses that lived through it? How do you think it would have impacted their friends & families?
  5. Based on what you have learned this year about the impact war has on people, would you say these experiences are consistent with what others have undergone during wartimes? Explain!
