DEFINITION 2 Motel owner Jimmy Brock realises as he is working in his office that there are 3 black people in his pool chanting. Without thinking, he grabs some muriatic acid and as revealed by the photo he starts dumping it into the pool filled by black and white people. While Brock was pouring the acid into the pool, he delivered the protesters this message - " hopefully this muriatic acid gets you out of here". Muriatic acid is a very dangerous chemical used for cleaning pool surfaces and in all of the madness, the only thing the protesters heard was acid. TERM 3

TERM 4
DEFINITION 4 In the end, the protesters were arrested for trespassing. The real outcome was that this event was massive in the civil rights movement in America because the publishing of the photo drew the attention of the public to the hatred by some white people to black people. Prior to this event, white people were seen to be the higher class which had privileges including having their own pool, having their own changing room ect.. TERM 5

TERM 6
DEFINITION 6 As I investigated this photo, questions that came to me were: where was Martin Luther King when this happened?, was there any other people near this incident? These are questions that will never be answered because that is the only photo of the incident. As I was looking through websites for information, it seemed incredible to me that someone would have enough anger and hate against black people to pour acid into a pool which could possibly kill them. Reading through this information I felt very confused and angry at Jimmy Brock for doing such a horrible thing. TERM 7

TERM 8
DEFINITION 8 Horace Court at the time was staying in the Motel were it happened, so he was smart and quick enough to snap a picture in the moment, he didn't receive any prizes or rewards for this picture.Less then one month later, president Johnson signed the Civil Rights act of 1964.
