(252)737-1016 (Voice/TTY) SCHOLARLY BEHAVIOR : The ECU Honor Code provides penalties for misconduct by students, including academic dishonesty. Academic dishonesty includes cheating and plagiarism. It also includes the unacknowledged use of materials prepared by another person or agency engaged in the selling of term papers or other academic materials. If you engage in academic dishonesty related to this class, you will receive an F letter grade on the quiz, discussion board post, or exam and a failing grade in the course. In addition, the case will be referred to the Dean of Students for appropriate disciplinary action. MISCELLANEOUS ISSUES Online courses employ a variety of technologies, including Blackboard, Internet connections, servers, networks, and your personal computer. All these technologies have the potential for problems, ranging from brief system outages to extended course downtime periods. Although extended course downtime occurs rarely, it often seems to happen at critical points in the semester. To prepare for such an event, you must:  Save and/or print a copy of the syllabus and assignment schedule so it will be available to you throughout the semester. Make sure you have a printed copy of all the course documents under ‘Course Information’ on Blackboard.  When new materials such as lecture notes and answers become available, download them to your PC as soon as possible. ALL COURSE MATERIALS WILL BE REMOVED ONCE EACH EXAM GOES ‘LIVE’

 You have access to the names and emails of classmates through Blackboard. I will communicate with you and you can communicate with me and each other through Blackboard.  University policy dictates that all electronic correspondence MUST be done through the ECU email system Class activities that may be affected by course downtime and your responsibilities if that occurs is that you should continue to try to log in to the course web site at least every half hour for as long as is reasonable (3 hours minimum). Also, check your email account as I will email everyone once I have some information to share regarding the down time or scheduling changes that may occur. You can also try to contact me by phone at the numbers listed on the front page of the syllabus if you have any questions about your responsibilities as a student during course downtime.
