II. Catalog Description
(Prerequisite/s: CISY 267 Programming for Game Developers OR ARTS 277 Introduction to Game Graphics; Corequisite/s: None) It takes a variety of talented artists/programmers to create a successful video game. However, an experienced, capable project manager is required to ensure that quality is not sacrificed and the project stays on schedule. In this course, students will act as both designer/developer as well as project manager to become familiar with the variety of jobs available in the gaming profession.
III. Statement of Course Need Students wishing to enter the fields of game design/development may not realize that creating a popular video/computer game is more than just drawing or coding. As a result, this course gives the artists and the programmers the opportunity to work together in order to create a working computer/video game. Additionally, students will be placed in the role of project manager to help them understand the discipline and team work required to successfully create a complex game.
