Answer 5 full questions choosing one from each Section 2. Each Section carries 12 Marks 3. Draw neat sketches wherever necessary 4, Missing Data may be suitably assumed SECTION -1 iia. Write the various governing laws for fluid flow (03 Marks} 1.b. Explain the basis of classification of Partial Differential Equations. Classify (06 Marks} the following PDEs. (i) 2-D Poisson's Equation (ii} 2-D Laplace Equation (ii} 1-D Unsteady Conduction equation without heat generation 1c. Write the differences between Eulerian approach and Lagrangian approach (03 Marks} OR 2.a. What is CFD? List the applications of CFD. Briefly explain how a CFD Code works. {06 Marks) 2.b. Derive the mass conservation equation in three dimensions Cartesian coordinate. {06 Marks) SECTION - 2 3.a. Develop finite difference scheme for 1-D steady state heat conduction equation starting from Taylor's series (06 Marks} 3.b. A large plate of thickness L=2cm, with constant K=0.5W/m-K is subjected to uniform heat generation of 1000 kW/m’. The left & right faces are maintained at 100°C and 200°C respectively. Consider this as 1-D conduction problem and determine steady state temperatures using FD technique. Consider 4 divisions. (06 Marks) OR Page 1 of 3
