a. Design 1: AW = 173.66 Design 2: AW = 191. b. Design 1 has the lower cost c. If consumption goes up, revenue from the project will go up. If consumption goes down the project may suffer losses. d. IRR or NPV could also be used to calculate the potential values of the two projects

a. 1. B/C analysis - A systematic and quantitative method for assessing the desirability of projects. Very common to see in public works projects where the goal of the project isnt necessarily for profit but must take into account the long term effects and side effects of thr project.

  1. Individualized rate of return - This evaluation centers on the rate of return that causes the present value to reach 0, IRR is how an investor would look at a project
  2. Net Present Value- NPV is evaluating by a discounted cash flow moving money on a table one point at a time using the equation. NPV would be used in a balance sheet and measures the investment for pricing issues. b. A discounted cash flow is a valuation method that estimates the future value of an investment using expected future cash flows. This can apply when selling a bond early. a. $195,525,805. b. 0 X (listed under time) c. $191,395,295.32, by WILLIAMS BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION CO., INC., -2.11% under the estimate d. The contractor may have viewed this bid as an easy job and wanted to be sure his bid got chosen for the job. The contractor is also located very close to the site e. $230,462,130.37, The Item costs more because Johnson bros corporation is located more than 4 hours away leading to more mobilization costs and other expenses caused by the distance. f. Bids can be affected by many factors such as contractor experience, resources, pricing advantages, timing, and location.

When a change is made in a project it must be approved by the owner. The four main changes are Time Extensions - granted for reasons out of the contractor's control that he could not anticipate. Change Orders - An alteration to the design document, this ultimately becomes a mini contract with negotiated fee and schedule. Change Conditions - Contract based on conditions not fully understood by the designer, contractor claims more time or money Design Error/ Omission - The Designers drawings or specs are wrong.
