In Act Five of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth's deteriorating mental health reaches a peak, leading to her suicide. Meanwhile, Macbeth learns about the march of Birnam Wood and the death of Lady Macbeth. During the battle, Macbeth faces Macduff, who reveals he was born through a C-section, making him not born of a woman and able to kill Macbeth. Malcolm becomes the new ruler of Scotland.

▪ At the beginning of the act, Lady Macbeths deteriorating mental health is shown to have driven her to madness as she constantly sleep walks and talks about the "blood on her hands". While the coelition of Macduff and England march up to Birnam Wood and cut down the trees to hide their numbers. Macbeth notices this and realizes that the prophecy is coming true that was told by the witches. After being told of the march of Birnam wood, he later finds about the death of Lady Macbeths death to which he really doesn’t care about and feels that if anything her death shouldve been after his victory. During the battle Macbeth slays young Siward and Macduff goes to fight him. Macbeth has the opportunuty to kill him, but he gets cocky only to learn that Macduff was technically "not born of a women" and was born through a C-section. He kills Macbeth and Malcom is named King of Scotland.
▪ 1. When Macbeth and Macduff battle, what news does Macduff tell Macbeth?
o Transation- "Out damned stain! Out, I tell you!" o Relevance- She is halusinating blood on her hands and is trying to get it off, as well as the feeling of guilt.
o Translation- " She should have died at another time. There would have been a better moment for such news." o Macbeth doesn't really care that she died and was just annoyed it happened when it did.
