1. Purpose of Post:
We wish to appoint a candidate to contribute to teaching in the Division of Criminology and Sociology. The people appointed will make a significant contribution to teaching in that Division with particular responsibility for modules related to Security Studies and Criminology. You will, in addition, be expected to have an active research profile.
2. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To contribute to teaching in the following areas: i. Security Studies, including Terrorism and Extremism in the United Kingdom and War and Conflict in the United Kingdom. ii. Criminology
Assist in the design, delivery and co-ordination of relevant modules as appropriate, i. To set and mark coursework/exams in this context. To demonstrate a commitment to the student experience by working with the Programme Director in advising students on their progress and providing pastoral care. To pursue research activities and develop a research profile. To develop collaborative partnerships across the Division of Criminology and Sociology and with the Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences. Candidates will be encouraged to attract and supervise doctoral students in their area of research expertise.

Day-to-day operational supervision will be through the Head of the Criminology and Sociology Division. Ultimate line management responsibility will be to the Head of the School of Social Sciences.

B. REQUIREMENTS OF POSTHOLDER:
6. Work Experience/Formal Qualifications:
A first and higher degree; if you do not already possess a doctoral qualification, it would be an advantage if you are working towards or have completed a doctorate, pending examination. Some experience of teaching in higher education is desirable, especially in conjunction with responsibilities for coordinating delivery of modules. A higher education teaching qualification is a requirement, or a willingness to work towards such a qualification.
