Results - ANS>viewing habits, in1995, 41.3% vs 1998, 70.8% owned a TV. this is a significant difference proven by chi squared test which gives a result of P<=0. in 1995 only 12.7% of girls had a score of 20 or more on the Eat- questionnaire. In 1998 this figure was 29.2%. This was twice than double Self induced vomiting to control weight in 1995 was 0% in 1998 it was 11.3% the qualitative data showed there was a desire to be like the female characters on TV in terms of hairstyle clothing and body shape 83% of them were influenced by TV, 40% of them were defined by TV conclusion - ANS>the influence of culture has a like un eating habits. Social learning theory can be used to describe this behaviour as they are observing it on TV Generalisability - ANS>the results may be culture specific, meaning the same results may not be obtained in other countries
