 1648 – L’Ecole des Beaux Arts was founded by Cardinal Mazarin.  Purpose: to educate the most talented students in drawing, painting, sculpture, engraving, architecture and other media.  Programs focused on classical arts and architecture from Ancient Greek and Roman culture
