“An Inconvenient Truth” Assignment
Due on or before 11am - September 24, 2008
1) Describe two of the solutions to the global warming problem.
Al Gore talks about how renewable resources would have a huge impact on the reduction
of GHGs. Wind energy, fuel cell technology, and the use of alternative fuels would help out with
the global warming situation. Al Gore also talks about how a stronger legislation would be a
solution. With a government that is more interested in global warming, there would be more and
stronger bills passed on GHG emissions. This is why Al Gore is putting a video out there to
inform more people about what is going on, and to try and get more of the youth to get involved.
2) Do you have a better understanding about the topic of global warming after watching this
documentary film?
I thought he did a good job with showing the trend lines and graphs. The hoist that lifted
Al Gore up to show the audience just how high the temps and pollution counts are projected to
reach was a good way of putting things into perspective. The different computer models had a
good impact on getting his point across.
3) What were some of your thoughts after you watched the movie?
I thought the movie had its good points and its bad. The graphs and trends obviously
show that the Earth is changing and something needs to be done. I didn’t like how he kept
plugging himself during the video and talking about how he was the first to start the discussion of
global warming. That part of the movie, to me, seemed like a political stunt. It seemed like he just
kept talking himself up and trying to get recognized for something since he wasn’t elected
President. He threw in there that despite he lost the Presidential Election that he sucked it up and
congratulated George W. Bush. That was just a few of my opinions on the movie.
4) Did you like this documentary? Why or why not? Would you recommend showing this film in future
AGR 203 classes?
I did like the video as a whole though. I thought he had a lot of good points, and he put a
lot of things into perspective. Like I said earlier I liked the graphs and the computer models to
show how things have changed over the years. I would recommend the video to future classes.
Despite the political plugs I thought it was an overall informational video.
