The armed forces center for child protection (afccp) is a specialized organization established in 1998 to provide objective child maltreatment medical expertise throughout the department of defense. Located at the national naval medical center in bethesda, md, afccp offers local and referral clinical assessments, training and education, and expert case consultation. Their mission includes conducting forensic/medical interviews and medical examinations, providing medical-legal case consultation and assistance in court, and training multidisciplinary professionals. In the past five years, they have trained over 40,000 professionals and given 3000 presentations in various military bases and states within the us and abroad.
