Lab Week # 7- 248B Skidsteer Schematic
There are several 248B Systems Operations sections posted on the Q drive that should be
downloaded. Between that reference information, the schematics that are available in lab
and the machine itself it is possible to answer the following questions.
1. List and describe the function of each of the pumps.
2. What powers the gear pump? (the engine is not specific enough)
3. What are the 4 systems that utilize the same hydraulic reservoir and which pump
supplies the flow for each.
4. On the schematic that is handed out in lab cross-out all of the
components/systems that are not on our 248B.
5. How is the work tool pump taken out of stroke?
6. What systems are protected by the main hydraulic filter?
7. Find the location of 10 components from the schematic on the machine and list their
location (excluding any hydraulic cylinders and/or quick connects)

  4. With a colored pen, trace the oil flow from the reservoir through the gear pump to the running cooling fan to the work tool control valve back to the reservoir.
  5. In your own words describe the oil flow in question 11 including every component that is encountered.  This lab will be typed and sent to me electronically via Email. The schematic will be handed in on paper. Due prior to lab during the week following Spring Break.
